Suicide Education

Suicide education equips individuals with the knowledge and skills to recognize warning signs and provide timely support- ultimately saving lives. By fostering awareness and understanding, we can reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues and create a supportive environment where those in need feel empowered to seek help.

Suicide Prevention Programming

SOS Signs of Suicide is an evidence-based youth suicide prevention program that teaches middle and high school students how to identify warning signs of suicide and depression. Trusted by thousands of schools across the country, SOS is delivered in a single class period and encourages students to ACT® (Acknowledge, Care, Tell) if they are worried about themselves or a friend.

Our additional SOS programs provide suicide prevention training for K-12 faculty and staff, as well as college students, faculty, and staff.

SOS Signs of Suicide is powered by MindWise Innovations, a service of Riverside Community Care.

Suicide Prevention Training

The Riverside Trauma Center team teaches evidence-based suicide prevention methods, including how to identify warning signs and the appropriate actions to take. Our virtual and in-person workshops empower people to help those in crisis by teaching effective prevention and postvention techniques through trainings such as:

  • Understanding Suicide and Safety Planning
  • Suicide Assessment and Intervention Training for Mental Health Professionals
  • Postvention: Responding to Schools, Workplaces, and Communities Following Suicide
  • Understanding Grief and Loss in Communities

These trainings are available to communities, schools, health and human service providers, organizations, and government agencies throughout the Commonwealth.

Please note that our offerings reside in our MindWise Innovations program library.

Consulting Services

MindWise Innovation’s suicide prevention consulting services are designed to promote safe and more supportive work environments for schools, colleges, and high-risk industries such as construction, mining, and commercial fishing. Whether you need initial advisement or long-term recommendations, our experts will work with you to help you address gaps in suicide prevention resources, maximize existing benefits, upskill leadership, and identify strategies to foster a culture where your employees want to work.

Suicide Postvention Services

Suicide postvention involves planned interventions with people affected by a recent suicide death in an effort to ease the grieving process, stabilize the environment, and reduce the risk of negative behaviors – most notably the risk of contagion. These interventions include grief counseling and coping groups. Riverside Trauma Center’s Postvention Guidelines have been used nationwide to support communities, schools, families, and workplaces.
