7th Annual Blue Jean Ball Raises $220K

Wellesley, MA – Riverside Community Care celebrated its 7th Annual Blue Jean Ball at the Wellesley Country Club on Friday, November 8, 2013, raising $220,000 for its programs and services. Over 250 guests, donned in blue jeans and jewels, enjoyed an evening of delicious food, fantastic auction items and a live performance by The Lee Boys.

Guest Speaker, Kelley Lane, spoke about her history as a foster child and her and her husband, Jeff Lane’s journey as foster parents for 42 children over nine years. As it has not always been possible to reunite the children with their birth parents, Kelley and Jeff have adopted 6 girls into their own family. In order to care for and support their blended family and the children’s issues, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, reactive attachment disorder, depression, anxiety and Pica, the Lane’s looked to Riverside for help. Riverside has provided them with a loving and supportive community of understanding therapists, in-home teams, mentors, psychiatrists, teachers, and special education advocates. Thank you to Kelley for sharing her story!

During the live auction, auctioneer Mike Saperstein had guests jumping to bid on fabulous items, including  lavish getaways to Las Vegas, Scottsdale, Arizona and Nantucket, and Luxury Box seats to a New England Patriots game, just to list a few. Afterwards, music from The Lee Boys, a gospel and funk band that plays in the Sacred Steel tradition had everyone celebrating out on the dance floor.

The Blue Jean Ball would not have been possible if not for Riverside’s generous supporters and sponsors. Thank you to our event Co-Chairs Linda Snyder and Steve Kadish, and to the Event Committee members for helping to make the Blue Jean Ball such a successful event.
