Frequently Asked Questions
I need help NOW. What should I do?
If you or a loved one are experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis and require immediate assistance, contact our Mobile Crisis Intervention Team for around-the-clock, 24/7 mental health and substance use evaluations. Our team is here to help children and adults avoid hospitalization or lengthy hospital visits whenever possible.
What type of insurance and payment do you accept?
Insurance and payment methods differ by program, but generally, we accept many public and private insurance plans, including MassHealth, Medicare, and most private insurance. Check the top of each program page for more insurance information.
How do I know which programs/services require a referral?
Check the top of each program page on our website for information about connecting with that service. Most programs are self-referrals, but some require a referral from the Department of Mental Health or the Department of Developmental Services.
Does Riverside offer telehealth services?
Yes, Riverside TeleCare offers telehealth outpatient counseling, and many of our programs also provide telehealth options. Contact each program directly for more information.
How does Riverside Community Care address different cultural backgrounds when working with diverse populations?
Riverside acknowledges that a culturally competent staff is best equipped to meet the needs of the diverse communities we serve. We provide employees with a variety of diversity and inclusion trainings, and our Cultural Competence Academy empowers staff with the tools to effectively communicate with individuals from different backgrounds and foster inclusive environments.
Our organization is also committed to upholding the National CLAS (Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services) Standards throughout all our programs and services. Through a partnership with BoostLingo, we offer immediate translation services over the phone or via video.
What is a behavioral healthcare and human services organization?
Behavioral healthcare and human services organizations provide a range of services to help people with mental health and substance use challenges, address behavioral challenges, and support individuals and families. By combining clinical care with social support and practical assistance, behavioral healthcare and human services organizations promote mental wellness, foster resilience, and improve the overall quality of life for the people they serve.
What do you mean by a “person-centered, strengths-based approach” in your services?
Riverside providers form collaborative partnerships with the people they serve to determine treatment goals together. The focus is on the person and what they can do, not their challenge or disability. Riverside clinicians emphasize a person’s strengths, knowledge, and abilities to promote growth and change.
How do I obtain a prescription through Riverside?
Riverside has prescribers on staff who will partner with you on determining your medications. Your prescription can be fulfilled at any pharmacy.
Additionally, the Riverside Community Behavioral Health Center at 176 West Street in Milford offers a full-service on-site pharmacy managed by Genoa Healthcare. Pharmacy staff can fill all prescriptions (not just behavioral health) for anyone affiliated with Riverside, and they will also:
· Mail medications at no extra cost and offer curbside pick-up
· Assist with prior authorizations, medication, and insurance questions
· Help customers transfer prescriptions from other pharmacies
