Riverside Counseling Helps Youth Thrive
When children or adolescents are experiencing behavioral health challenges, Riverside offers a variety of counseling for youth and their families. Our Outpatient Centers offer comprehensive mental health services in comfortable and professional settings. We also have a team that can provide therapy for children and families in their homes when more intensive services are needed.
Whether it’s a young woman struggling with depression, a teenager experiencing suicidal thoughts, or a family having difficulty with a child’s social interactions, our Outpatient Centers provide the assistance needed.
Family is at the Center of Our Work
Meeting a family’s needs can become stressful when a child experiences mental health issues, behavioral concerns, or social problems. Our clinicians are caring and empathetic experts in a broad range of issues that a child or family may experience. We encourage family participation when appropriate to promote healing for the entire family.
Riverside understands that when your child hurts, so does the whole family. We provide new strategies that help your family cope with life’s challenges.

Counseling & Medication Management
Individual counseling is an opportunity to meet with a clinician in person or via telehealth to discuss treatment, set personal goals, and work through challenges. Our clinicians are skilled at developing personalized strategies focused on problem resolution and recovery. People seek outpatient therapy for a wide variety of reasons, including but not limited to:
- Coping with stressful life changes and situations
- Support to overcome substance use disorders
- Managing serious mental health challenges
The length of time a client and therapist work together varies depending on unique needs and individual goals.
In some instances, medication can be an integral part of the therapeutic process when combined with counseling. Our prescribers can help individuals navigate this process through a unified and integrated treatment plan.
Prescription Fulfillment
Prescriptions can be fulfilled at any pharmacy. In addition, the Riverside Community Behavioral Health Center at 176 West Street in Milford offers a full-service on-site pharmacy managed by Genoa Healthcare. Genoa specializes in serving the needs of those in the behavioral health and addiction treatment communities. With medication adherence rates of more than 90 percent, Genoa helps people stay on track with their treatment. Pharmacy staff can fill all prescriptions (not just behavioral health) for anyone affiliated with Riverside, and they will also:
- Mail medications at no extra cost and offer curbside pick-up
- Assist with prior authorizations, medication, and insurance questions
- Help customers transfer prescriptions from other pharmacies
Call our Pharmacy Site Manager at (508) 422-0636 with questions.
Group Therapy
Riverside Outpatient Centers provide many opportunities for people of all ages to engage in group therapy. Groups are facilitated by professionals and can serve as time for participants to give and receive peer support. Peer support often helps individuals recognize they are not alone in their struggles and learn coping strategies that have worked well for others.
Telehealth Services
Your child can participate in virtual therapy or psychiatry with a Riverside clinician through secure, easy-to-use video-conferencing technology. There are many benefits to telehealth (flexibility, comfort, reduced transportation issues), and results have proven to be comparable to in-person treatment.
Many of our Outpatient Center clinicians offer telehealth visits, and Riverside also has a program exclusively featuring telehealth. Learn more at riversidetelecare.org.
Mobile Crisis Intervention
We help families avoid hospitalization or an emergency room visit whenever possible. If your child needs immediate psychiatric attention, Riverside offers Mobile Crisis Intervention south and west of Boston, in Southbridge, Milford, and the surrounding areas.
