Riverside Outpatient Therapy

When you or someone you care about needs support with a difficult life situation, Riverside Outpatient Centers are here to help. Our caring and skilled clinicians work with individuals and families to develop treatment solutions for adults, teenagers, and children who may be experiencing mental health challenges, behavioral or emotional problems, or substance use concerns. Through outpatient therapy individuals learn new strategies and techniques to help them better cope with problems and achieve personal goals and recovery.

At all Riverside Outpatient Centers, we work closely with you in a warm and accepting environment. Our approach is to build on an individual’s strengths and potential through individual, group, and/or family counseling. Through Riverside Outpatient Centers, individuals also have access to treatment planning and consultation, medication management, as well as a large network of community services and local resources – including 24/7 emergency services.

Outpatient Centers Offer Telehealth Services

You and a Riverside clinician can participate in virtual therapy or psychiatry appointments using secure, easy-to-use video-conferencing technology. There are many benefits to this type of therapy (flexibility, reduces transportation issues) and results have been proven to be comparable to in-person therapy. Watch the video to see if it might be right for you.

Individual Counseling & Medication Management

Individual counseling is an opportunity to meet with a clinician in a one-on-one setting to discuss and set personal goals and work through challenges. Counseling takes place in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. Our clinicians are skilled at developing personalized strategies that are tailored to each individual and focused on problem resolution and recovery. People seek outpatient therapy for a wide variety of reasons from coping with stressful life changes and situations, support to overcome substance use disorders, to managing serious mental health challenges. The length of time a client and therapist might work together can vary depending on unique needs and individual goals.

In some instances, combined with counseling, medication can be an integral part of the therapeutic process. Our prescribers can help individuals navigate this process through a unified and integrated treatment plan. And prescriptions can be filled right at Riverside. Genoa Healthcare, our on-site pharmacy provider at the Riverside Behavioral Healthcare Center at 176 West Street in Milford, will fill prescriptions for anyone affiliated with Riverside at the pharmacy, at curbside, or they can be mailed to you at no extra cost. (See Prescription Fulfillment below for more information.)

Group Therapy

There are many opportunities for individuals to engage in group therapy at Riverside Outpatient Centers. Group therapy promotes acceptance and healing among individuals. Groups are facilitated by professionals and can serve as a time for participants to give and receive peer support. This peer support often helps individuals recognize they are not alone in the struggles they are facing and learn coping strategies that have worked well for others.

The number and type of groups offered at each location may vary based on the needs of the participants. See our group offerings here.
