The Guidance Center’s Innovation Fund
Announcing This Year’s Innovation Fund Recipient
Our Guidance Center’s Board of Advisors created The Board Innovation Fund to provide grants to inventive therapeutic groups that benefit those served by The Guidance Center. This year’s recipient is “The Joy of Beading Group” proposed by Outpatient Clinician, Abigail Reynolds.
This multi-faceted program “target[s] individuals and families struggling with anxiety and depression” using therapeutic beading as its vehicle. Previously offered to adults and successfully piloted with youth participants at The Guidance Center this past spring, the grant will provide resources for three different projects: a mothers’ group, a children’s group and a parent/child group, the latter adding a family therapy component. Board of Advisor members will also be welcome to participate in sessions.
The program will culminate with a craft show where participants will share their experiences with attendees and offer their handiwork for purchase and jewelry produced may be offered for sale at local shops. We are so grateful to The Guidance Center Board of Advisors for their continued support of innovation in our programs and look forward to seeing and hearing about the great work done by this group.
