Neponset River House & The Salvation Army Kettle Drive Kickoff Event
Each year from mid-November until Christmas Eve, members at the Neponset River House, a service of Riverside Community Care, can be found in front of Stop & Shop and Walmart in Walpole, Shaws in Norwood, and Roche Bros in Westwood, MA, ringing the familiar holiday bell to raise awareness for The Salvation Army’s annual Kettle Drive fundraiser. The bell-ringers from Neponset River House are seasonal employees of The Salvation Army and often use the money they earn to buy gifts for their own families, much like how some of the money they raise for fundraiser is used to provide gifts to less fortunate families during the holiday season. This year, The Salvation Army and Neponset River House held their Kettle Drive Kickoff Event at Roche Bros Grocery Store in Westwood, MA, and MA Representative Paul McMurtry participated in the ringing of the bell, partnering with the seasoned bell-ringers from Neponset River House to bring in the year’s first donations from generous shoppers.
Riverside Community Care is an award-winning, non-profit organization that provides more than 40,000 children, adolescents, and adults with a broad range of behavioral healthcare and human services. Neponset River House, a service of Riverside Community Care, is a Clubhouse offering adults with a history of mental illness a community built on peer support and rehabilitation principles. Because Neponset River House and other Clubhouses use employment and employment-related goals to facilitate recovery from mental illness, working for and with The Salvation Army Kettle Drive is a hugely beneficial opportunity for much of the membership every year.
