Patty Underwood, LICSW, wins Emerging Leader Award at NASW-MA Symposium
Framingham, MA, April 8, 2016-The National Association of Social Workers (NASW)-Massachusetts’s Biennial Symposium is the largest social work continuing education event in New England. Social Workers come together from across the country to learn and network. One of the highlights of the event is the Annual Awards Luncheon. Patty Underwood, LICSW, a supervisor and clinician at Riverside’s Newton Outpatient Center, is receiving the Emerging Leader Award. The award recognizes outstanding contributions of early career NASW members who have demonstrated exemplary leadership, expertise, and dedication to the profession, and whose contributions enhanced practice knowledge, and the professions’ capacity to gain resources and influence.
“There couldn’t be a more deserving person of recognition,” said Paul Block, Vice President for Behavioral Health Services at Riverside Community Care. “Patty is one of Massachusetts’ true experts in treatment and community-wide supports for people with problematic hoarding behaviors. She has inspired and led a clinic-wide focus on effective group treatments. Her leadership has also extended to a system enabling intake of new walk in clients that has dramatically improved our ability to serve the Newton and surrounding communities. Patty’s clinical expertise, inspiring and effective leadership, and dedication to making an impact on her community exemplify the Riverside mission.”
