Riverside Community Care’s Blue Jean Ball Raises $188K
Wellesley, MA – Riverside Community Care celebrated its 8th Annual Blue Jean Ball at the Wellesley Country Club on Friday, November 14, 2014, raising $188,000 for its programs and services. Over 225 guests, donned in blue jeans and jewels, enjoyed an evening of delicious food, fantastic auction items and a live performance by Gene “Birdlegg” Pitman and backed by Brian “Hash Brown” Calway.
We are grateful to our guest speaker who told the story of her daughter’s bi-polar diagnosis and their struggle as a family to find the support and services they required. Through the Riverside School – Needham and Life Skills Center, the family was provided with the loving community that they needed for their daughter to ultimately understand her mental illness, receive both psychological and education support, and eventually enable her to move forward.
During the live auction, auctioneer Todd Crowley (and member of the Riverside Board of Directors) had guests bidding on fabulous items, including floor seats to a Celtics game, lunch with Governor-Elect Charlie Baker, and an instant party featuring the Red Bones food truck to feed 30 guests, just to list a few. Afterwards, music from Birdlegg, a wild blues harmonica player who can’t stand still, had everyone celebrating out on the dance floor
The Blue Jean Ball would not have been possible if not for Riverside’s generous supporters and sponsors. Thank you to our event Co-Chairs Linda Snyder and Steve Kadish, and to the Event Committee members for helping to make the Blue Jean Ball such a successful event.
